City visits
(Recommended visiting time - spring/autumn/winter)
The 3 main Moorish cities of Andalucia are Granada, Cordoba and Jaen. All are unique to visit and offer different cultural experiences.
GRANADA
A visit to Andalucia has to include a trip to the wonderful city of Granada, famous for the Alhambra, Moorish architecture, the Albaicin gypsy quarter, flamenco dancing and Moorish baths. If you wish to know more about the city and what you would like to visit, then have a look at www.granadainfo.com to find out all you need to know. If you wish to visit the Alhambra, you MUST buy tickets in advance at www.servicecaixa.com. This website is in Spanish, but we can help you purchase tickets if you wish.
Cordoba boasts a rich historical background with many treasures to visit including the grand mosque of Cordoba (La Mezquita), the historic quarter including La Juderia (Jewish quarter), museums and the festival of the patios. The wealth of treasures has now meant that Cordoba has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage city and is a nominee for the 2016 European City of Culture. Cordoba is a small city and most attractions are within walking distance in the city centre. If you would like to know more about Cordoba visit www.cordoba24.info.
JAEN
Jaen, the provincial capital, is situated in the north of Andalucia, with its main activities focused around the Plaza de la Constitucion and its two arterial streets Paseo de Santa Catalina and Avenida de Madrid. Jaen offers renaissance cathedrals, Arab baths, archeological museums to name but a few cultural attractions.
